In this post I offer 3 tips to achieve your dreams. Whatever you do, don’t downgrade your dreams. Upgrade your standards to achieve a life worth living.

And while this blog is essentially for network marketers, this post could apply to anyone who is in a place where they are considering giving up on what they most desire to achieve.

Don’t Downgrade Your Dreams

Don’t give yourself an excuse to stop achieving what you really want out of life. You are worth more than that.

When you were a small child can you remember a time when you craved a special present for a birthday or special holiday? What was the result? 90% of the time you got it right? You knew what you wanted and you pestered your parents until you got it. You wouldn’t let go. You were totally focused on the prize. Your parents probably never had a chance. The universe was conspiring against them. Your WILL was so powerful nothing could stop you achieving your dream, could it?

So what changed? It should just be the same now as it was then but we grow up and those limiting beliefs and internal rackets kick in and it gets harder.

Here are a few tips on why you shouldn’t downgrade your dreams:

1. Failure Is Just A Process Of Learning How To Succeed

How many times have you failed only to figure out how to do it better next time? Lots of times, right?

It is how we learn to talk, walk, read and write. We just keep on trying until we get it right.

If we fear the prospect of failing we stop trying to win, to succeed, to achieve our dreams. But in reality, failure is one of the best ways to grow. Just like when you were a child. You fell down, bruised your knees but you didn’t stop trying to walk, did you?

Many  successful people had to fail over and over again to achieve what they hoped to in life.  Abraham Lincoln failed at war, as a businessman, as a lawyer and even at politics at first.  He pushed on through and became president of the United States.  Thomas Edison’s teachers called him “stupid” and he was fired multiple times before “failing” 1000 times attempting to invent the lightbulb.

Michael Jordan was once cut from his high school basketball team.  He later said,“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot …. and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. That is why I succeed.”

So you can see, if you just keep trying, making mistakes on the way, your skills and learning is enhanced until you overcome and become successful.

2. As We Persist We Develop Success Habits

Just keep on going. As you keep trying we get stronger and our learning shapes our future. Pesistence is the greatest asset of a successful network marketer in my opinion. We are back to that 3 Feet From Gold story. We only fail when we stop! You aren’t failing while you are still going. You are just learning your trade until your dreams are realised!

There are a few people who have inspired me. I think one of the most important ones was Martin Luther King. Who could forget his “I have a Dream” speech. Amazing. But one of his quotes has been used over and over again by people who probably didn’t even know he said it.

In fact, Rocky Balbao used it as part of his inspirational speech to his son.

“If you can’t fly, then run. If you can’t run, then walk. If you can’t walk, then crawl. but by all means, keep moving.” He is telling us that we will be blessed if we just keep trying.

How many times have you seen someone give up on their network marketing opportunity and then someone comes along after they have left that could have made a huge difference to their business. I would never stop and run the risk of a real network marketing winner joining my team after I have left the playing field. Keep on going. Don’t stop. Be Persistent!

3. If You Never Try You Will Never Know What Could Have Been

Giving it a go is often how we find we are good at something. My nephew is an Olympian. He would never have reached that height if he hadn’t volunteered to try the bobsleigh while he was in the forces. Now he has appeared at 3 0lympic games! He gave it a go and he found out he was good at something. Why not you?

It is in our first decision to begin a network marketing opportunity that we have made a move to give it a go. To try. Once we have decided that, then we are on our way to fulfilling our objective, our dream.

I remember at a Tony Robbins seminar I heard him say that: “it is in our moments of decision that our destiny is shaped “

That is true, isn’t it. When we decide to try, to give it a go. When we persist, it is a decision of continuing. When we stop, it is a decision to give up!

In my opinion, giving up is the most humbling and depressing decision I could make. If I give up, I give up on myself. I have lost faith in me! That is never a good thing!

So when things get tough, I just try again. Fall down 7, get up 8!

So – Don’t be afraid to fail, persist towards your dream, and just keep trying. Know that if you do these things consistently, your business will grow and you will see the fruits of your continous efforts manifest into a lifelong dream before you know it.
